We offer Metabolic Testing using a non-strenuous, 10 minute breathing test.
Who is this test for? Patients who needs to lose, maintain or gain weight.
This optional service provides an accurate measurement of your Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) and a detailed report. The report indicates your daily calorie consumption targets or “zones” for Weight Maintenance, Weight Loss, and Medically Supervised Weight Loss (i.e. a very low calorie diet).
We use an industry leading indirect calorimeter, a device that measures the amount of oxygen a person consumes during an 8 to 10-minute resting test. There is a direct correlation between oxygen consumed and calories burned.
You may want to get a metabolic test done if,
- you are on a 1000 - 1300 calorie meal plan but have not lost any weight.
- you had bariatric surgery and your weight has plateaued >2 months.
- you are working with a dietician or personal trainer.
- you have lost weight and are now transitioning to weight maintenance.
- you have certain medical conditions such as severe obstructive sleep apnea, Cushing’s syndrome, Grave’s disease, Hashimoto’s disease, or if the physician has specifically requested to test your Metabolism.
